The natural beauty and environment of central Pennsylvania is constantly being threatened by human activities. Habitat fragmentation, groundwater depletion, and stream pollution are just some of the impacts that are associated with population growth and increased development. We take our natural resources for granted, but the risks are real and imminent.

These are our forests and valleys, our streams, and our clean air, and we must make an effort to conserve them for ourselves and for future generations.

Land Conservation

The land protection program of the ClearWater Conservancy seeks to balance the rapid growth of central Pennsylvania with the conservation of important ecological, cultural, and historic places. We work with landowners and land managers to determine appropriate conservation methods, including land management recommendations, conservation easements, and land acquisition. We envision a ribbon of green stretching from the headwaters of Spring Creek and its tributaries to the confluence of Bald Eagle Creek and beyond.

Water Resource Protection

ClearWater Conservancy's watershed stewardship program involves the community in  protecting, maintaining, and restoring the ecological integrity of watershed systems. Our goal is to retain the high quality of life in the region through watershed-based planning that balances environmental, social, and economic needs. We raise awareness of watershed issues and provide the tools and information needed to encourage sustainable decisions by community leaders and citizens.

Environmental Outreach

Our outreach program engages a diverse cross section of the community in planning, promoting, and achieving ClearWater goals and initiatives. Community involvement is facilitated through outreach efforts such as monthly newsletters, the ClearWater and Spring Creek Watershed web sites, presentations, and public forums on important issues. We also host special event days that provide fun opportunities to learn and get involved.
